PetSafe Stay and Play Wireless Dog Fence
The Stay and Play Fence System is a relatively new and more expensive model. Like all other PetSafe products, dog owners can trust the wireless system to keep their pets in the safe zone. It’s portable, versatile, with a wide range of features.
In return for the extra money you spend on PetSafe Stay and Play, you get to use the system on smaller dogs and get a wider coverage area. One of the biggest advantages the Stay and Play fence has over the PIF-300 is the availability of rechargeable collar batteries. Yes, Stay and Play frees you from the compulsion of buying expensive collar batteries. The PetSafe Stay and Play fences have a maximum coverage area of about ¾-acre. This can be further increased to 1½ acres by adding an extra transmitter.
PetSafe has made a couple interesting changes to the collar, namely, adding a rechargeable battery and tweaking the size to accommodate smaller dogs. It takes up to 2½ hours to fully charge the battery and a full charge would last 2-3 weeks, depending on how adventurous the dog gets. The battery will deplete faster during the training period and for a short duration after the training period due to increased activity.
PetSafe Stay and Play fence like all other wireless dog fence systems adds two contact points (short and long) to its kit. Short contact points are used on pets with thin fur, whereas, long points are used on dogs with thick fur. A wench, to fasten and unfasten the contact points, is also included in the box.
The Stay and Play dog fence come with two training modes – the tone (beep) alone and static correction mode. Dog owners can select any of the five static correction levels. The wireless dog fence system comes with many interesting features, one of which is the Over Correction Protection feature that stops the correction after 15 seconds.
The transmitter has two alert features – the Transmission Failure Alarm warns the dog owner of malfunctioning transmitter and the Power Loss Alarm alerts you if the transmitter is starved of power.
